Pakistan have named Sahibzada Farhan as a replacement for Saim Ayub in their squad for the ODI tri-series. Ayub has been withdrawn after telling head coach Mike Hesson that he wants to return to domestic cricket, where he hopes to work on his batting and rebuild his confidence.

The change is a reminder of how quickly form and self-belief can shape a player's place in the national set-up. Ayub's request to play domestic cricket suggests a batter who recognises that his game needs time and repetition away from the spotlight, and that candour deserves respect. For Pakistan, the switch gives Farhan a chance to press his case in a high-profile tournament, while the management must balance immediate needs against the longer-term development of their batting group.
