Highest Individual Test Innings
Brian Lara holds the record for the highest individual innings in Test cricket — 400 not out against England at the Recreation Ground in Antigua in 2004. Lara also holds the previous record of 375, scored against England in the same ground in 1994. Matthew Hayden of Australia scored 380 against Zimbabwe in Perth in 2003, briefly holding the record between Lara's two landmarks. Rohit Sharma of India holds the record for the highest individual score in One Day International cricket with 264 against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata in 2014. Martin Guptill of New Zealand scored 237 not out against West Indies in Wellington in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Virender Sehwag (219 vs West Indies), Chris Gayle (215 vs Zimbabwe), and Ishan Kishan (210 vs Bangladesh) round out the top five scores. Aaron Finch of Australia holds the record for the highest T20 International innings with 172 not out against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2018. Hazratullah Zazai of Afghanistan scored 162 not out against Ireland in 2019. Finch also holds the second-highest T20I score with 156 against England in 2013. Best Bowling Figures in a Test Innings
Jim Laker of England holds the record for the best bowling figures in a Test innings: 10 wickets for 53 runs against Australia at Old Trafford in 1956. Laker also took 9/37 in the other innings of the same match, giving him 19 wickets in a single Test — a record that has never been matched. The second-best innings figures are 10/74 by Anil Kumble of India against Pakistan in Delhi in 1999.
Highest Team Totals
Sri Lanka hold the record for the highest team total in Test cricket with 952/6 declared against India in Colombo in 1997. In ODIs, England set the highest total with 498/4 against Netherlands in Amstelveen in 2022. In T20 Internationals, Nepal scored 314/3 against Mongolia in 2023. Australia hold the record for the highest total in a T20 International between major nations with 263/3 against Sri Lanka at Pallekele in 2016.
