Kenya
About
Kenya Cricket was once the most prominent Associate cricket nation in Africa and arguably the world, famously reaching the semi-finals of the 2003 ODI World Cup in South Africa — defeating Sri Lanka in the quarter-finals in one of the tournament's greatest upsets. Steve Tikolo and Maurice Ouma were the stars of that era, which brought Kenya close to Full Member status. Financial difficulties, governance challenges, and the emigration of key players have since set back Kenyan cricket significantly. Kenya lost ODI status in 2014 and now compete primarily at T20I level in ICC Africa regional events. They are working to rebuild cricket infrastructure and develop a new generation of players, aiming to reclaim their place as one of Africa's cricket powerhouses. The Gymkhana Club Ground in Nairobi has hosted historic matches and remains Kenya's principal international venue.
