About
USA Cricket co-hosted the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup — the first time a major ICC global event was held in the United States — and delivered one of the tournament's greatest upsets by defeating Pakistan in the group stage. The match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, played in front of a sell-out crowd of over 34,000, announced cricket's arrival on the American sporting landscape. Monank Patel's captaincy and Saurabh Netravalkar's bowling (3/21 in a Super Over thriller) were the heroes. Major League Cricket (MLC), launched in 2023 with six franchises directly affiliated with IPL teams (Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Knight Riders), has accelerated cricket's infrastructure development across the United States, with dedicated stadiums in Dallas, New York, and Washington DC. The US cricket scene is driven by a large South Asian diaspora alongside growing participation from the Caribbean, British, and African-American communities. Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Texas has become one of the Western Hemisphere's finest cricket facilities.
