How IPL 2026's individual races finished

The Orange Cap went to Vaibhav Suryavanshi (Rajasthan Royals) with 776 runs — the youngest winner in IPL history at 15 years old, striking at a tournament- best rate of 230+. Shubman Gill (732) and Sai Sudharsan (722) were second and third for finalists Gujarat Titans, with Virat Kohli (675) fourth.

The Purple Cap was claimed by Kagiso Rabada (Gujarat Titans) with 29 wickets. RCB's Bhuvneshwar Kumar pushed him all the way to the final ball, finishing one wicket behind on 28 — denying him an unprecedented third Purple Cap. Rabada now joins Bravo, Harshal Patel and Bhuvneshwar as the only multiple-time Purple Cap winners (his first was for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020).

Suryavanshi swept the Emerging Player of the Tournament as well, capping a season that has redrawn the boundaries of what's possible at any age. His strike rate of 234+ is the highest in IPL history among batters with 200+ runs, and his sixes total ranks among the highest ever.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who won the major IPL 2026 awards?

Vaibhav Suryavanshi (Rajasthan Royals, 776 runs) won the Orange Cap and Emerging Player of the Tournament. Kagiso Rabada (Gujarat Titans, 29 wickets) won the Purple Cap. The major team prize — the IPL 2026 title — went to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who beat GT by 5 wickets in the Ahmedabad final.

How is the IPL Most Valuable Player decided?

The MVP is selected on a points formula that combines batting, bowling and fielding contributions weighted by match impact (e.g., a wicket in a chase counts more than one in a one-sided match). The full formula was first introduced in 2019.

What is the Emerging Player of the Tournament award?

Awarded to the best uncapped (or recently capped) Indian player aged 25 or under. Past winners include Ruturaj Gaikwad (2021) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (2023). Vaibhav Suryavanshi won it for IPL 2026 at age 15 — by some distance the youngest recipient ever.

Where were the awards announced?

Orange Cap, Purple Cap, MVP and Emerging Player were all presented at the IPL 2026 Final on 31 May 2026 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The closing ceremony followed RCB's 5-wicket win over Gujarat Titans.

Can a player from a non-playoff team win the Orange Cap or Purple Cap?

Absolutely. The Orange and Purple Caps are tournament-wide individual awards independent of team finish. KL Rahul (Punjab) won the Orange Cap in 2020 while his team finished sixth, and Kagiso Rabada's IPL 2026 Purple Cap came with Gujarat Titans falling in the final.
