Alzarri Joseph — West Indies' Express Pace Sensation

Express Pace from Antigua

Alzarri Joseph is one of West Indies' most dangerous fast bowlers — an Antiguan right-arm quick who regularly clocks speeds above 145 km/h. His ability to generate steep bounce, swing the ball, and maintain pace throughout a spell makes him a genuine wicket-taking threat in all formats.

IPL Debut Record — 6/12

Joseph made cricket history on his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians in 2019, taking 6 wickets for 12 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. It remains the best bowling figures on IPL debut in the tournament's history. The performance immediately elevated his global profile and confirmed his extraordinary potential as a T20 bowler.

Test Cricket and Pace Records

In Test cricket, Joseph has demonstrated the ability to move the ball at pace and generate disconcerting bounce. His trajectory improvements have made him increasingly effective in longer formats, and he has been a core part of West Indies' strategy of developing a genuine pace battery.

Managing His Career

Like many fast bowlers, Joseph has had to manage injury carefully to keep his pace and fitness at peak level. His raw ability is not in doubt — the key for West Indies is keeping him fit and bowling consistently at international level, where his pace alone makes him a threat to any top-order batting lineup.
