In April 2019, making his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians as an emergency replacement for Jasprit Bumrah, Alzarri Joseph bowled figures of 6 for 12 from 3.4 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad — the best bowling figures in IPL history and on debut. The performance was extraordinary both for its wicket haul and its economy rate. Mumbai Indians went on to win that IPL title.
