Modern Construction

Does wearing thicker gloves reduce batting feel?

Are wicketkeeping gloves and batting gloves different?

Wicketkeeping gloves are designed for catching — they have a webbing between the thumb and index finger (creating a 'catching pocket') and a broad, stiff palm that creates a catching surface; the keeping gloves are larger, rounder, and designed to absorb the energy of fast deliveries without gripping the ball with finger dexterity. A batsman could not bat effectively in keeping gloves (too bulky, no grip friction) and a keeper could not catch effectively in batting gloves (no webbing, insufficient catching surface).
