Suryakumar Yadav made his T20I debut for India at 30 — late by modern standards for a player of his quality. 2024 T20 World Cup Final
In the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup final, India vs South Africa in Barbados, with India needing to defend the last ball, Suryakumar held a clean catch on the boundary off David Miller — simultaneously touching the rope, he threw the ball back into the field to complete the catch legitimately under T20 rules. The catch dismissed Miller and effectively sealed India's T20 World Cup win. It was an extraordinary fielding moment from cricket's most extraordinary T20 batter, and India's social media erupted.
IPL and Franchise Demand
Suryakumar plays for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and has been their most consistent top-order T20 batter for several seasons.
