Inzamam-ul-Haq is widely regarded as Pakistan's greatest ever batter. Over 120 Tests from 1992 to 2007, Inzamam amassed 8,829 runs at an average of 49.60, placing him among the finest batters of his era. He scored 25 centuries and 46 half-centuries, with a highest score of 329 against New Zealand in 2002 — a monumental innings that redefined expectations for Pakistan batters in the longest format.

ODI Brilliance and the 1992 World Cup

Inzamam burst onto the global scene at the 1992 World Cup as a 22-year-old when he hit 60 from 37 balls against New Zealand in the semi-final, rescuing Pakistan from a precarious position and propelling them into the final, which they won under Imran Khan. He went on to play 375 ODIs, amassing 11,739 runs at 39.52 — the second-highest tally by a Pakistan batter in the format.

Leadership and Later Career

Inzamam captained Pakistan in 87 Tests and 178 ODIs, leading them to a number of important victories. Off the field, his career was occasionally shadowed by controversy — including a ball-tampering allegation in 2006 that led to Pakistan forfeiting a Test match at The Oval. He retired in 2007 as one of the finest batters the subcontinent has produced, later serving as Pakistan's chief selector.
