Peter Siddle: Australia's Tireless Pace Bowler

Peter Siddle is one of the hardest-working fast bowlers Australia has produced — a right-arm fast-medium bowler who took 221 Test wickets at 30.80 across 67 Tests through pure relentlessness, accuracy, and the ability to move the ball both ways. He was never the most glamorous choice for a Test XI, but he was consistently one of the most reliable.

The Birthday Hat-Trick

Siddle's most celebrated moment came on his 26th birthday in the 2010-11 Ashes series opener at the Gabba. He dismissed Andrew Strauss, Matt Prior, and Stuart Broad in consecutive deliveries — taking a hat-trick in front of a packed Brisbane crowd. The timing and the occasion made it one of the most memorable hat-tricks in Australian Test history.

Bowling Style

Siddle was not express pace — he typically bowled in the 135-143 km/h range — but he was exceptionally accurate and tireless. He could bowl long spells without losing control of his line and length, and his late swing — both conventional inswing and reverse swing with the older ball — consistently created problems for the best batters.
