The Ball of the Century

Shane Warne's very first ball in Ashes cricket, bowled to Mike Gatting at Old Trafford in June 1993, is known as the 'Ball of the Century.' The delivery pitched on leg stump and spun sharply to hit the top of off stump. Gatting stood and stared at the wicket in disbelief. The moment is widely regarded as the most famous single delivery in cricket history and announced Warne as a once-in-a-generation talent.

Ashes dominance

Warne was the defining bowler in five Ashes series. He took 40 wickets in the 2005 Ashes despite Australia losing the series — the most taken by any bowler in a losing series.
