Who Is Alastair Cook?

Sir Alastair Cook is England's all-time leading Test run-scorer with 12,472 runs across 161 Tests, 33 centuries, and an average of 45.35. A left-handed opening batter from Essex and a product of Bedford School and county cricket, Cook made his Test debut in 2006 aged 21 and spent 12 years as England's first-choice opener, including a long tenure as Test captain. He was knighted in 2019 for his services to cricket.

Cook's batting was built on method, patience, and an excellent defensive technique against the moving ball.
