Brett Lee: Career Overview

Brett Lee is an Australian right-arm fast bowler born on 8 November 1976 in Wollongong, New South Wales. Known for his ability to sustain speeds above 155 km/h (96 mph) consistently over long spells, Lee was among the fastest bowlers of his generation and became a global cricketing icon for his speed, skill and sportsmanship. He made his Test debut in 1999 against India and went on to take 310 Test wickets at an average of 30.81.

Test and International Career

Lee formed a formidable bowling partnership with Glenn McGrath under the captaincies of Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting, helping Australia dominate world cricket in the early 2000s. He was part of two World Cup-winning squads (2003 and 2007) and contributed to numerous Ashes victories. His bowling was particularly devastating in the powerplay overs of ODIs, where his pace and ability to swing the ball made him among the hardest white-ball bowlers to face.
