SA20 is South Africa's premier T20 franchise cricket competition, launched in January 2023. Uniquely among global T20 leagues, each SA20 franchise is owned by an IPL franchise owner, bringing significant investment and star power. The league runs for approximately six weeks in January–February and has immediately established itself as one of the world's top three T20 leagues alongside the IPL and BBL.

Format
The six teams play a round-robin stage before quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. The tournament runs for approximately six weeks in January and February, timed to attract international stars who are not committed to international tours. The South African summer conditions — fast, bouncy pitches and sunny skies — produce high-scoring, entertaining T20 cricket.
