On 21 May 1997 at Chennai, Saeed Anwar played what remains one of the greatest ODI innings of all time: 194 from 146 balls against India. The knock included 22 fours and 5 sixes. That score stood as the highest individual score in ODIs for 13 years until Sachin Tendulkar made 200 not out against South Africa in 2010. The innings showcased every element of Anwar's game — the flick off his pads, the square drive, the fierce pull — in a sustained, breathtaking exhibition of batsmanship.

Test Career

Anwar played 55 Tests scoring 4,052 runs at 45.52, with 11 centuries. Personal Tragedy and Comeback

In 2001, Anwar suffered the tragic loss of his young daughter Bismah. He temporarily retired from cricket to cope with his grief, later returning for the 2003 World Cup.
