Sunrisers Hyderabad — IPL's Orange Army

The Orange Army

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) replaced the Deccan Chargers franchise in 2013 and quickly established themselves as a competitive force in the IPL. Known as the 'Orange Army' for their orange jerseys, SRH have built their identity around disciplined bowling, aggressive batting in the powerplay, and a committed fan base in Hyderabad.

2016 IPL Title

SRH won the IPL title in 2016 under David Warner's captaincy, defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore in a low-scoring final. Their victory was built on exceptional bowling — led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mustafizur Rahman, and Warner himself opening the batting with calculated aggression. It was the franchise's first and remains their most celebrated triumph.

2024 Title — Batting Revolution

SRH's 2024 IPL run-up-final performance represented a complete transformation. The team that was historically bowling-first adopted an ultra-aggressive batting-first philosophy, with Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma setting records for powerplay scoring — though SRH lost the 2024 IPL Final to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR won by 8 wickets). Their approach nonetheless redefined what was possible in T20 batting at the top of the order.

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium

SRH play at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, Hyderabad. The ground has been redeveloped with excellent facilities and draws passionate crowds when SRH play at home, creating an electric atmosphere that the 'Orange Army' generates with consistent enthusiasm.
