About the CPL
The Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is the premier T20 cricket competition in the West Indies, launched in 2013 by Cricket West Indies. Played across six Caribbean islands each August and September, the CPL blends world-class cricket with the carnival atmosphere that has always defined West Indian sport.
CPL 2026 expanded to 7 franchise teamsfor the first time — Trinbago Knight Riders, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Barbados Tridents (formerly Royals), Jamaica Kingsmen (replacing Jamaica Tallawahs), Saint Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Saint Lucia Kings, and new side Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. Each team can field up to four overseas players per match, drawing talent from the IPL, PSL, Big Bash and county cricket.
Trinbago Knight Riders are the most successful side with four titles, backed by the same owners as Kolkata Knight Riders. The Guyana Amazon Warriors claimed their long-awaited first title in 2023 after years as perennial runners-up. The CPL has produced iconic moments: Chris Gayle's batting masterclasses, Andre Russell's explosive cameos, and Sunil Narine's mysterious spin have all defined the competition.
The CPL serves as a vital platform for West Indian talent development. Many players who starred in the CPL went on to represent West Indies in ICC tournaments.
