About SA20
The SA20(officially Betway SA20) is South Africa's premier T20 franchise cricket league, launched in January 2023. A landmark initiative by Cricket South Africa, SA20 was built on a foundation of IPL ownership — all six franchises are backed by Indian Premier League franchise groups, bringing world-class management, marketing and recruitment infrastructure to South African cricket.
The league runs in the December–January window, perfectly placed in the South African summer and the global cricket calendar. Six franchises — Sunrisers Eastern Cape, MI Cape Town, Joburg Super Kings, Durban Super Giants, Paarl Royals, and Pretoria Capitals — play a double round-robin group stage followed by playoffs, culminating in a final held at one of South Africa's iconic grounds.
Sunrisers Eastern Capehave been the league's dominant force, winning three of the four editions (2023, 2024, and 2026). MI Cape Town, backed by Mumbai Indians, broke the Eastern Cape's run with their 2025 triumph — a victory that showed the league's growing competitive depth.
